Race of Man
Adanithir 03/07/2010 11:03:13AM

If you are managing a character on the website that is human, please identify your race as Race of Man.  This is keeping with the Turbine standards of race identification and helps me keep track of the statistics of our roster properly.

Also be sure to properly identify your class, level and all should have the realm set to Brandywine.

Thank you.

Vent Server Security
Adanithir 02/02/2010 10:02:53AM

I have decided to change the security level from open to user account control.  That means you will need to login with your account using your unique user name and password to log into vent.

Please email me your user name and and password choice as soon as possible.  You can either use the Contact administraitor link to the left or the website mail system.

Thanks,

Adanithir.

Harassment Policy
Adanithir 01/14/2010 12:01:06PM

Kin members,

If you or anyone else are receiving harassment from anyone in the game, there are a few simple steps you can do according to Turbine's harassment policy as stated in the terms of agreement.

1.  IGNORE.  This is your first weapon of defense.  If someone annoying you, saying things offensive, or just generally being agressive, add them to your ignore list. once they are on your ignore list you will never hear from that character again.

2.  Take Screenshots.  Use the F11 key on your keyboard to take a .jpg picture of your screen.  If we can get evidence of someone harassing you, then we can get them banned.

3.  Report the Harassment.  Use the trouble ticket system in the game to report the person for harassment.  Ususally this is what will lead to the banning of the accounts.  Don't expect Turbine to lock out someone on their first complaint.  They will say things like, did you ignore the person and do you have screenshots.  Don't do this until after you have done steps 1 and 2.

Lateral things you can do are to report the incident to the kinleader who can talk to the offenders kinleader and perhaps have them removed from their kinship.

Things to NOT do.

1.  Do not retaliate in anyway.

2. Do not argue.

3. Do not engage.

Remember it is up to you to stop harassment.  I find that Ignoring them usually corrects the problem in the end.

Website registration and Kin membership
Adanithir 12/25/2009 9:12:04AM

In order to encourage our members to use this web site, we will be enforcing a new rule.  Effective immediately, All members must have their characters registered on the roster before they can be made a full kin member.

This does several thing for management of the kinship.  1.  It will force a link between user names and characters.  2. It will allow us to track progress and participation of our membership.  3.  The roster will be more complete and look better for recruiting.

I know many of you are out there that say, "Why do I have to do this?  Why can't I just play the game?"  I would like to respond by saying that this website is our first line of communication for our membership.  There are a lot of neat tools here that can help you play the game better.  This is a place for you to communicate with one another and create activites and events.  This website will help you organize your play time so you can spend more time DOING runs instead of FINDING groups to do the runs.

I would also like to remind people that we have a vent server and we should be using that as much as possible.  There are benefits to that as well.  You can maintain voice communication with the kinship out of group as well as out of game even.  The voice quality is 100 times better than the ingame VoIP.

Both the site and vent are tools that I have purchased for the kinship and they DO greatly enhance the experience of the game.  Please use them.
